Curiosity came over me wanting to know if there were any bands under the label Deathwish Inc. that had a female vocalist. Well I wasn't surprised to to see that there where none. YET...I caught a picture on the right side of the page six pictures up of a women and its Rachel Rosen. Guitarist of the band Most Precious Blood from Brooklyn, New york. I'm proud to see that there is a female especially playing guitar. I was searching for more info on her but there wasn't much:
MPB began in the summer of 2000, before then Rosen was the guitarist of Indecision (in which Patrick Flynn played drums). Then she departed after the final show with Justin Brannan (guitarist). When they returned back to Brooklyn the both of them put together Most Precious Blood. And so it says that Rosen "had a desire to keep moving and writing music". She was part of a pretty big NY Hardcore band in the scene, thats sick (in my own opinion). In the original lineup Rosen played bass but later on played guitar. Yet there was a point in which Rachel had a "challenging and out of the ordinary job" in which she left for the band. She was doing autopsies for the chief medical examinar in New York City (ASU!). Without Rachel's style and melody MPD would not have as much of the hardcore unique sound that it does. She screen prints with Justin the band shirts for MPB and plays in another band (all girl, hardcore/metal) called Wage of Sin. (mostpreciousblood.com)"Rachel played bass for Tapeworm, S.F.A., Milhouse and Cause For Alarm(I think that is the link to the band) just to name a few. Rachel also played guitar in Indecision from 97-2000. You can find the Milhouse & Indecision albums at Go Kart Records The others you'd have to dig around for." (mostpreciousblood.com)
And since MPB supprt vegan/vegetarian lifestyles I take it she is one as well :]. I am pretty satisfied in finding this much information and would like to interview her if I ever get the chance. Just to have her view of the hardcore scene and much more.
+tambien, here is an interview with Rachel Rosen from Kimset Fanzine
And so girls out there with the brutal vocals or know how to play an instruments get yourself out there. SEE THIS ! One band in Deathwish inc. with a female. Change that, machocore is cool but sometimes I want to hear female vocals and it's irritating enough to know there are not many. I would make a band myself but with the people I know and time I have, not gonna happen. But I'm so down to do vocals with a guy or girl or just myself....
so
STEP UP YOUR HARDCORE GAME LADIES and guys support the ladies as well don't belittle us. We don't do that to you and your bands.
